K... Here's a serious one for ya

My 6 year old son was recently diagnosed with Alternating Esotropia. which basically means that he has never in his life seen anything in 3D. I would be very interested to know if anyone out there has or knows someone who has this and were you or they successful in correcting it without surgery? Any links to pages with info on this would be appreciated!

K.... I live in Canada. Land of free health care for all... rich or poor... right?? WRONG!! I live in the province of Alberta. one of, if not THE, richest provinces in the country.. oil and gas money... We are (as far as i know) the only province which presents it's residents with a bill every 3 months for it's health care. it's minimal but still a bill. now to be fair all other provinces pay this in the form of sales tax. alberta does not have a sales tax. SO! once that bill is paid ... your health care should be taken care of ... right? WRONG again! My son was referred to a specialist (the only specialist for this problem in the area i might add) for his eye problem (mentioned above). I phoned the specialist for a consultationa and was told that her fees are not covered by Alberta health OR my husbands medical benefits from work... therefore if i do not have $300 for the consultation fee, she cannot help me. Does this mean that normal vision is only for the rich?? because we are barely above the poverty line! $300 i do not have! apparently only the rich are entitled to a normal life. without this treatment my son is sentenced to a life where sports will be very very difficult if they are possible at all. have you ever tried to hit or kick a ball or shoot a puck if you cannot judge distances?? my son is absolutely crazy for all of those sports. but he can't play them. How about driving a car?? how do you do that when you can't judges distances or see in 3D? My son spills everything. he trips and falls a lot more than the average kids. wouldn't you if everything you saw looked flat? BUT! we are not rich... so apparently this life is "good enough" for my son. If i sound bitter it's probably because i am.
Oh Canada... Our home and native land.. true patriot love... yeah right. bite me.

and I offer you my prayers and thoughts as well. Funny how systems that are there to help those that need it the most, are the people that it does the least for. Doesn't make sense at all. I hope you can find the help you need and while im out and about the net i will be sure to keep a watch out for anything that might help you.
